Many of the African American community first moved to Iowa in a boxcar to work for the Illinois Central Railroad. The boxcar was also their first home in Waterloo. This museum will showcase the history and culture of the African American residents of Waterloo. |

| The museum features Olympic, collegiate and professional wrestling history and honors Waterloo native Dan Gable, 1972 Olympic Gold Medalist. The museum also presents displays on famous wrestlers throughout history - from Jacob wrestling the Angel through young Abe Lincoln to Frank Gotch, Dan Gable and Cael Sanderson. The Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame, Glen Brand Wrestling Hall of Fame of Iowa, a video room featuring wrestling clips from movies, and the Dean Rockwell Library and Research Center are also features. | Nationally accredited, the Grout Museum features outstanding exhibits reflecting area history. It boasts Northeast Iowa's only planetarium. Planetarium programs are offered Saturday at 11 am, 1:30 pm, and 3 pm. Permanent exhibits include Pioneer Hall with five full-scale dioramas including blacksmith and carpenter shops, tool shed, log home, and mercantile store. Other exhibits featured are the Five Sullivan Brothers display and military exhibits. The Museum also houses northeast Iowa's largest genealogical reference library. Each season, the orchestra presents five classical concerts, a Holiday and Spring Pops Concert, a family concert; and a Chamber music event.
